On the value of an apology


To apologize is not just to say that you admit and accept your own wrongdoing. 
It also involves a promise that you will learn from it 
and that you will strive to do better. 
This is why if we fail again the next apology loses strength, 
because we have shown ourselves to be oath breakers.
